best social media platforms

It might be confusing that there are a plethora of social media platforms out there, right?

Like, we don’t know which is the best or which platform could entertain as well. Today, I’m going to share with you my top picks for social media platforms.

But let me make this clear – the list that I’ll provide is not based on how many monthly users visit the platform, it’s based on my own observation and personal experience.

I’ve spent countless hours using these social media platforms and I believe that these are the ones that offer the most value to their users.

So, let’s dive in and discuss why this social media platform belongs on the list.

1. Facebook

Oh boy! Facebook is still on my number one list because it’s a social media that I just can’t get enough of! It really provides value to its users and it allows us to stay in touch with our friends and family.

First of all, Facebook has this awesome feature called Newsfeed, other platforms have also this kind of feature but basically, Facebook is the one who started it.

Facebook’s newsfeed is like a never-ending stream of images, memes, and articles that would surely entertain you. I mean, who needs to have a TV when you already have Facebook?

But hold on, there’s more! The site also has a plethora of organizations and communities that cater to your specific interests.

If you have a gift for cuisine or fashion, there are several clubs you may join. Moreover, you can communicate with those folks if you need guidance, which is fantastic!

But the real cherry on top for me is Facebook has a messaging feature that allows you to easily connect with your friends or family.

You can send pictures and videos. There’s also a live video call feature. The best thing about it is that everything is free!

2. TikTok

It’s one of my favorite social media platforms and TikTok is really dominating the social media world by storm! It’s been growing incredibly because it’s very addictive.

What I love most about TikTok is its simplicity. It’s very easy to use to the point that I’ve seen a lot of kids use this app very well.

You just scroll through your feed and watch endless videos of people dancing, doing funny content, and so much more.

One this I also observed about the platform is that it isn’t about mindless entertainment. It’s also a platform for creativity and self-expression.

There are a lot of people who aren’t talented in real life and then became talented on TikTok. Anyone can create a video on the platform and share their creativity with the world.

You can also learn a lot of things on the platform because you can discover new things. I’ve learned so much on the platform because I can easily search for things like new recipes, gym exercises, or a DIY project that I can perform at home.

3. Youtube

This is a video-sharing platform and it’s also one of my favorites because it truly provides value to its users.

You can watch all kinds of videos out here and there’s something for everyone no matter what topic you like.

Youtube has a limitless amount of content and it’s also user-generated. This means that anyone can create a channel and upload a video depending on their niche. You can also watch tutorials on this platform on almost anything.

If you’re having a problem with your math subject, just search the topic and you will see a lot of tutorials out there that you would surely learn because you can rewind it.

And I don’t want to forget about entertainment because Youtube has tons of entertaining videos.

One way I get entertained on Youtube is that I subscribed to my favorite YouTuber and watch his content all the time.

4. Instagram

The first thing I want to say about Instagram is it’s not just a social media platform, it’s a whole world of its own.

This social media platform is also great to the point that it competed with Facebook a long time ago.

The best thing about Instagram is that it’s all about photos and videos. You can get super creative with your post and share it with your followers so they will know what you’re up to right now.

Another great feature of Instagram is the power of hashtags. They have a hashtag feature that really makes your content discoverable to a wider audience. Compared to other platforms, I love using hashtags on Instagram because you can join conversations or promote your business.

Lastly, they have their Explore page which is one of my favorites. This is the place where you can discover contents that you might be interested in.

You can also see here new accounts to follow. There’s like a treasure of photos and videos you can see on their explore page.

5. Snapchat

Do you want a fun and creative social media platform where you can share your life in real-time?

Well, Snapchat is the best place for you because one of the things that make them stand out is there ephemeral content. It means it will last for 24 hours before disappearing.

Snapchat has an entertaining feature by adding hilarious effects to your photos and videos.

Their lenses and filters are great and there are many of them. You can even add an effect where you can turn into a unicorn or a dog.

The platform also has the new cameos feature where you can insert your face into short video clips for extra laughs.

The platform also has its own Discover page where you can find news, entertainment, and original content from your favorite brands. Their Discover page feels like a mini magazine right in the palm of your hand.

But what really sets Snapchat apart and why I included it on my top social media platform is its sense of intimacy.

The content that you share on this platform only lasts for a short time that’s why you can feel more comfortable sharing silly moments with your friends.

There’s also a feature called Snap Map where you can see where your friends at right now and what they’re up to.

6. X (Formerly Twitter)

X (formerly Twitter) is on my list because it’s one of the coolest social media platforms out there.

I mean, what social media platform you can express yourself in just 280 characters or less? It’s just the perfect place if you want to say something to the whole world.

I’ve been tweeting up a storm on X for a while now and I can say that it’s a wild ride! What makes Twitter so special is you can keep it short and sweet. So what’s running through your mind now? Tweet it and be creative if you want to.

Twitter feels like a game on how much you can fit into one tweet. And trust me guys, it’s sometimes not as easy as it sounds.

This platform is also great when it comes to connecting with other people from all around the world.

You can follow your favorite celebrities, politicians, and neighbor. Twitter also provides a great source of breaking news and event to keep you updated.

The best feature that I love in this platform is its poll feature, it lets you create fun and engaging polls for your followers to participate in.

You can also see this kind of feature on other platforms but it’s just different on X.

7. Pinterest

This platform is like a virtual pin board because you can save and organize all of the cool images you find on the internet.

What makes Pinterest stand out from other social media sites is that its main goal is inspiration and creativity. You can gain a lot of ideas out here from recipes, fashion, and home décor. The home décor that I have in my house was an inspiration I got on Pinterest.

A lot of people are saying that this platform is just a place for pretty pictures, but the reality is that it’s also a search engine for finding inspiration and ideas. I often get some of my outfit ideas out here.

They also have an amazing visual search tool because the platform will suggest similar images or ideas. Imagine Pinterest as your personal stylist or chef at your own fingertips.

8. WhatsApp

First off, WhatsApp is a messaging app that allows you to communicate with other people through voice messages, photos, videos, and many more.

The communication here on WhatsApp is amazing because it feels like you have a toolkit in the palm of your hand.

But why do I love this platform and why have I included it on my list? Well, there was a time that we had a road trip with my friends and we all had different cell phone plans. Some of us had a limited amount of data that’s why we decided to use this app.

We were able to communicate easily without having any extra charges or fees. We created a private chat room on our phones so it’s easy for us to contact everyone.

The user interface on this platform is very user-friendly. The design is easy to understand that’s why it’s easy to use for people of all ages and technical abilities.

9. LinkedIn

Whether you’re looking for a job or to network with others, this social media site is the greatest.

Facebook and LinkedIn are significantly distinct from one another since LinkedIn is a wonderful place where lots of businesspeople congregate to connect. They set up a profile and list their areas of competence.

This is an interactive platform and not just a place to post your resume.

A lot of people are using this platform in the wrong way because once they post their resumes, they just wait for employers to find them.

You must learn how to engage or market your brand if you have a business.

The job search option, in my opinion, is their finest feature since it makes it simple to discover positions that fit your qualifications.

Moreover, notifications may be set up to notify you when new positions become available that meet your requirements.

You absolutely need to be on this site if you’re seeking work, developing your brand, or making new friends.

I urge you to build your account, regardless of your level of experience as a professional or fresh graduate.

Final Thoughts

So these are my top 9 social media platforms that I highly suggest that you need to be on right now.

As you can see, every platform has different features, audiences, and benefits. If you’re choosing only what platforms to use, it really depends on what you’re looking for.

I believe that this list will change in the future because social media continues to grow and evolve. I’m excited about what kind of platforms will emerge in the future.
